Painted Pumpkins!

One of my favorite things about fall is the decorating! This year instead of carving pumpkins, I PAINTED pumpkins! Here are two that I painted.

 The one on the left was spray painted first. Then i took painters tape and stuck it to the pumpkin and ripped it off to give the pumpkin a distressed look. I did this over the entire pumpkin. Next, i cut the top off about 1/4 of the way down , large enough for the mums to sit in and got all of the gook out. I then painted the polka dots. Last, i took saran wrap and placed in the bottom to keep the pumpkin away from the roots of the mums. 

For the pumpkin on the right i painted it solid gray, let it dry and the painted the green on top. After that paint dried i free handed the B and the quatrefoil design. You could draw that on first for a more clean, proportioned design. 

All you have to do after that is display and make the neighbors jealous!

DIY Glass etching

DIY glass etching!!

I LOVE monogrammed glasses, but you cant get cute personalized stencils to use with the etching cream! WHAT TO DO?!? A hand held glass drill!

I went to Hobby Lobby and found this hand held glass etcher for about $25 and the tips for about $15.

I will walk you though the process so you can get girly cute monogrammed glass ware!

 This is the drill that i bought from Hobby Lobby. You buy the drill and the drill tips separately.

 These are the "stencils" I use to etch with.

 First, I look up monogram fonts on google and take a screen shot with my iPhone. If you don't have a smart phone you can use your computer screen as well.

 I take some tape and put 2 or 3 pieces together to make a tape square. Then to make it less sticky, I stick it to some fabric a few times so it wont stick to the screen too bad. 

 After you zoom into the letter you want to trace, you put the tape down on your screen and trace with a pencil or sharpie. Do this for all the letters you want to combine. Then arrange them in the order you want and tape all of them together. 

 Here are some that I have done. I usually just do the three initials: First initial, Last initial, and then the Middle initial.

 After you make your pattern or stencil, place it on the BACK or the glass and tape down where exactly you want to drill on the FRONT.

 Once you tape your stencil, chose the drill bit you are most comfortable with. I like the small ones first just to get the initial sketch down. All you do is just trace over the letter like you are drawing right over them. Then to do the "meat" of my letters, I like a ball tip. Then you clean up the edges with a pointed tip. This method works best for me, but what ever works for you is fine.

I find that if you have a test glass, it helps in deciding what tip you like best.

 These are a few of the glasses I have etched. They normally take me about 30 minutes to do each glass. 

 You also can just draw straight on the glass with a sharpie and wipe off with finger nail polish remover when you are finished to remove the sharpie marks.

Stuffed Manicotti

Stuffed Manicotti~

This is super good manicotti right here. You have to get a little bit messy, but it is well worth it!

 Ingredients:

1 Package of manicotti noodles

1 1/2 pounds of ground beef

1 egg (beaten)

1 1/2 pounds of mozzarella cheese (diced)

3 slices of cubed bread

3/4 cups of milk

1 1/2 teaspoons of salt

1/4 teaspoon of pepper

Sauce

2-15 ounce cans of tomato sauce

1 1/2 tablespoons of parsley flakes

1 1/2 table spoons of mined onion

1 teaspoon of dried crumbled oregano leaves

1/2 teaspoons of dried crumbled basil leaves

1/4 teaspoon of salt

2 cloves of garlic or about 1 1/2 tablespoons of minced garlic

Directions: Pre heat oven to 375. Boil the manicotti noodles and set aside to cool. While the noodles are cooling, combine the ground beef, egg, cheese, bread, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix well and set aside. Next mix all of the dry ingredients of the sauce in a bowl. Once mixed, add the tomato sauce and mix that in as well. Now get the noodles and stuff with the meat mixture. Place the stuffed noodles in a pan side by side and pour the sauce over the noodles. Bake the noodles until the meat is thoroughly cook. You can also add cheese to the top if desired. ENJOY!

Lace Back Sweat Shirt

If you are anything like me, you love lace. 

Thats why i decided to make a little sweatshirt/lace creation.

SUPPLIES

The sweatshirt is from Target (on sale!)

The lace is actually from a lace shirt I found at the thrift store.

I used regular fabric scissors.

and studs from Michaels for about $4

and of course a sewing machine or serger

FIRST thing you do is pick a sweatshirt! It makes it easier when you pick a baseball shirt type back.

SECOND is to cut the back out, just outside of the seam on the two sides, and just under the seam on the             neck and just above the seam on the bottom

THIRD you need to take the back piece you cut from the sweatshirt and lay it on top of the lace (or whatever fabric you want to use, you dont have to use lace) and just cut around the back sweatshirt piece. 

FOURTH you will need to turn the shirt inside out and pin the lace to the sweatshirt with the raw edges facing out so that when you serge or sew the facrics together and turn the shirt right side out, the raw edges will be on the inside. 

LAST I added studs just below the shoulders around the collar bone area in a triangular shape, first a row of three, then two, then one. 

the verrry last thing is to wear and look fab!

INSPIRATION!!

I bought this shirt from my favorite store, ANTHROPOLOGIE, and wanted to replicate, but with a rocker edge, so I added studs.

First Post. YAY!

 is this going to be my latest obsession keeping me from doing my World Lit homework? im feeling YES!  ohhhwellll this is way more fun than Danish theology anyway. so, basically everyday when i get home from school i make something, or as my boyfriend says i piddle. if i could make things, eat, and decorate all day i would be one happy girl! but, i do love school, minus world lit...if you cant tell i hate my world lit class. not to mention i have to get up and speak about book tomorrow. i am NOT a great public speaker. who cares about theology when there is stuff to be sewn?! not me. CRAFTY POSTS TO COME!
